Management of the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel says it is still safe for business despite a fire outbreak that gutted a portion of the facility on April, 22.
“It is important to note that the Regency Hotel and its restaurant, guest rooms and conference facilities are intact and were not touched by the fire, Ralph Ayittey, General Manager said in an interview.
On April 22, part of the hotel compound which houses other affiliates of Groupe Nduom, including BTA and ATV studios, GN Bank, Gold Coast Securities and other offices were engulfed by fire which is suspected to be caused by an electrical fault.

“The cost of damage is in millions of Ghana cedis but work is being done by the insurers so we are working on making sure that the right value emerges and if there are any remedies they will be taken care of,” he added.
Mr. Ayittey noted that the hotel has already reached out to its clients to assure them that the hotel is still in business and nothing untoward has happened.
“We have smoke detectors in every room but currently we are auditing all of them and we have fire drills every six months for the staff” he assured.
