South African giants Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the sacking of assistant coach John Paintsil.
The former Ghana international has been part of the Kaizer Chiefs technical team as Steve Komphela’s assistant and joined the Soweto giants in July last year as a surprise addition to the club’s bench.
He had retired from playing at the end of the 2015/16 season, following a stint with Maritzburg United, before his unveiling at Chiefs.
Amakhosi issued a statement confirming that the club has reached an agreement to terminate Paintsil's contract.
"Kaizer Chiefs and John Paintsil have come to an agreement to terminate his contract as the assistant coach of the club with effect from 6 June 2017. His contract was due to expire in June 2018.
"Both parties have signed a separation agreement, the terms of which are confidential. The club thanks John for his contribution and wish him well (in) his future endeavours," Chiefs stated.
