Leading mobile telecom company, MTN Ghana is partnering the Multimedia Group Limited to institute an annual festival of entertainment, sports, health and entrepreneurial development in the Ashanti region.
The socio-cultural event dubbed “AshantiFest” is part of MTN’s enriching life project aimed at giving back to Asanteman in the areas of sporting, social and business activities.
The maiden event launch was held at the premises of Luv/Nhyira Fm in Kumasi, amidst rich cultural display, depicting the golden heritage of Asanteman.
A week-long of fun-filled activities has been planned for the festival, including an MTN Family Jamboree, featuring some of Ghana’s finest artists and commissioning of an ICT Centre of Learning in Kumasi.
MTN General Manager, Marketing and Communication, Richard Acheampong, says the AshantiFest is “to deepen our relationship with Asanteman”.
“There is going to be a business forum to empower our retailers in the region with entrepreneurial skills to enhance their profitability… we will have a special Otumfuo Golf Tournament and a keep fit walk through the principal streets of Kumasi. The most entertaining part of it all is the movie night with the producers of Adam’s Apples Chapter Four” he stated.
Business Development Manager of Luv Fm and Nhyira Fm, Jim Aglah, says the radio, television and online networks of the Multimedia Group are show the company's commitment to initiatives that add value to life.
“Over the years, we’ve instituted socio-cultural events like the Lake Bosomtwi Festival, Family Party in the Park, the Skuul’s Reunion, Corporate Olympics and Keep-Fit Games; all aimed at providing a platform for tourism promotion, business networking as well as building healthy social and family relationships.
“We believe that with your support, this AshantiFest will not be an exception, most especially as the country’s leading mobile telecom network, MTN has committed itself to annualize this festival”, he stated.
Northern Sector Manager of MTN, Sam Addo also entreated all in Ashanti and beyond to join in the fun of the festival, which is taking place between 21st and 24th September, 2011.
