The Managing Editor of the Al Hajj Newspaper, Alhaji Iddrisu Bature has said that those following and defending President Mills like himself, are not doing it blindly.
To him, any objective person will always support President Mills due to his selfless and dedicated leadership exhibited within two and half years in his administration.
“It is not our will to support Mills because if you are a God-fearing person, there is no way you will not support him” he asserted. Commenting on La Cote D’Ivoire’s President’s description of President Mills as a wise man, Bature noted that President Allasane Ouatarra was being candid with the truth. The Ivorian Leader President Allasane Ouatarra is reported to have described President Mills as a wise leader.
Speaking on Asempa Fm’s Ekosii-Sen Thursday, Alhaji Bature said President Ouatarra’s praises on President Mills has confirmed the role he (Mills) played in resolving the Ivorian crisis.
He stressed that the praises being heaped on President Mills started from Ex-President Gbagbo of the Ivory Coast. He said what will the critics of the president say now after the Ivorian leader, UN Secretary General when Ban Ki Moon and others lauded him for his unique leadership skills.
He explained that President Ouatarra said President Mills was wise because of the neutral role he played in the solution to the Ivorian crisis last year.
He said though he has problems with some of the government's policies and leadership styles of President Mills, he cannot take away his leadership credentials.
“I may have problems with the STX and other diplomatic flops of government policies, the positive outweighs the negatives so there is no way Mills should not be described as wise” he stated.
He admonished critics of the government to praise Mills where he has performed well and criticize him objectively where he has failed.
Meanwhile the Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South, Hon. Stephen Kwaku Balado Manu said that he expected President Ouatarra to say that because diplomatically that is what nations should do.
“If about 24 million Ghanaians have elected their leader and an outsider could describe him as unwise it would have been very insulting so Ouatarra is right” he noted.
He said Ghanaians do not need Allasane Ouatarra to tell them who President Mills is.
