Representatives of the governing National Democratic Congress have boycotted the Saturday October 1, 2011 edition of the award winning Joy FM and MultiTV news analysis programme Newsfile.
According to sit-in host of the programme, Samson Lardi Ayenini, the NDC claims it will not be part of the programme if only one representative would be allowed on the show.
It would be "one-against- three," Lardi quoted the NDC as saying.
Saturday’s show which would be discussing the fall outs of the controversial $3 billion Chinese loan, the never ending allegation against Nana Akufo-Addo over his perceived relationship with drug addicts, has Moustapha Hamid representing the NPP, William Duworkpor, representing the CPP, Kweku Baako Jnr, a regular panelist and Editor of the New Crusading Guide as the panelists.
The NDC representative would have been the fourth panelist. But the party objects to the constitution of the panel.
It claims the panel is not balanced and an NDC representative would have a tough time dealing with three other representatives on one side.
Lardi Ayenini said all efforts to convince them to be part of the program proved futile.
He however objects to the line of argument of the NDC, insisting, his producers constituted a balanced panel for the show.
It is not clear if the NDC will return to the panel next week.
Kweku Baako Jnr. described the development as unfortunate, saying he is aware there are four NDC panelists on a similar show on another network.
He would not however mention the name of the network.
In a final twist to the controversy however, Victor Adawudu a representative of the NDC made a late entrance, apologising for what had happened.
He attributed it to miscommunication but apologised profusely, saying the NDC will not take the Newsfile audience on Joy FM and MultiTV for granted.
