Headline sponsor of Asante Kotoko Football Club, MTN Ghana, says it is saddened by an accident involving players and officials of the club.
"We are even more saddened by the passing of the Assistant Equipment Officer, Kofi Asare, as a result of the accident. We offer our heartfelt condolence to the family of Mr Asare, and we pray that his soul finds rest in the life beyond," a statement signed by Cynthia Lumor said.
Asante Kotoko who were returning to Kumasi after a football match at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra when the unfortunate incident happened.
According to Mrs Lumor, a delegation from MTN met club officials and visited the accident victims at the Komfo Anokye Accident and Emergency unit.
Ghana's leading telecommunications company says it stands "with the team during this challenging period and pledge our support to management, the playing body, technical team and supporters of the Porcupine Warriors across the world."
"We wish the team speedy recovery; it is our prayer that their spirit of enduring determination gives them renewed strength to overcome this tragedy and rise again," it added.
