The District Chief Executive for Atwima Kwanwoma, Tony Nyame, has denied allegations he has awarded a School Feeding Programme contract to his lover.
He says the contract was awarded to a qualified caterer, Leticia Opoku, not because she is his girlfriend or on the basis of political affiliation.
The DCE said every Ghanaian is qualified to bid for the contract, provided the person can do the job without considering his/her political affiliation.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Thursday, Tony Nyame explained that an independent committee set up by the Assembly, resolved that two caterers should be awarded the contract to cook for the over 400 pupils.
The DCE alleged that another caterer whose name was given only as Vivian, wife of the NDC constituency vice chairman, Antwi Agyei, obviously unhappy with the arrangement got infuriated and destroyed food ready to be served to the pupils.
According to the DCE, Vivian had claimed that Leticia Opoku was a loyal supporter of the New Patriotic Party and therefore did not see why she should have been awarded the contract.
Tony Nyame who said the incident happened in his absence, explained that Vivian and her husband are framing up stories against him just because he has filed to contest the parliamentary seat on the ticket of the NDC in the area.
The DCE suspects the vice chairman wants to get back at him because he favours another aspirant in his stead.
