The Democratic Freedom Party, which split from the ruling National Democratic Congress in 2006, has finalized merger modalities with the endorsement of President John Evans Atta Mills as flag bearer for Election 2012.In a National Executive Committee meeting, this weekend, the DFP moved a motion for formal endorsement of President Mills and also tabled another motion for formal merger of DFP with the NDC.In an interview with Joy News Correspondent, Jefferson Sackey, the General Secretary of the Democratic Fredom Party, Mr. Bede A. Ziedeng outlined the outcome of the National Executive Committee meeting.Under the arrangement, the DFP, Mr Ziedeng said, will be allocated two National Executive Committee positions at the national level, one Regional Executive Committee position and one constituency executive position.That arrangement, according to him, will enable the DFP to properly integrate into the NDC.He said there was a confluence between the philosophies of the DFP and the NDC and the differences in opinion the drove the DFP to split away have been narrowed.Mr Ziedeng, who was a Deputy General Secretary of the NDC before the DFP broke away, said the merger was at the instance of president Mills.
