Four new districts have been created in the Greater Accra Region.
This was announced by the Local Government Minister, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo who is accompanying president John Mills on a three day tour of the region.
Joy FM’s presidential correspondent Seth Kwame Boateng named the districts as; Ningo District, Sege District, Kpong Katamanso district and Nii Okaiman Municipality.
The sector minister also announced that the Madina district has now been upgraded into a Municipality.
A total of GHS40 million has been set aside as seed capital for an effective implementation of the policy the minister announced.
He said other districts will be created across the country as and when necessary.
Meanwhile, President John Mills has dismissed assertions that government is to blame for the current chieftaincy crisis in the Greater Accra Region.
He reiterated that government has no interest in dabbling in chieftaincy issues.
He said government policy has always been to jaw-jaw on the issue and not to war-war.
