There are so many people who are not seeing the fulfillment of the Better Ghana being professed by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Sekou Nkrumah has stated. The son of Ghana’s first president who appeared appalled by the performance of President John Evan Atta Mills said “Mills sounds like a preacher than a President”. Speaking on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Sekou Nkrumah opined that President Mills has not been able to institute a single good policy except to put his leadership and the future of this country in the ‘hands of the Lord’, to the point of saying Jesus is the President of this country. He said the President lacks the charisma to provide the needed inspirational leadership to accelerate the development of the country. He added that the uninspiring leadership of the President has also affected the performance of his appointees who are equally not living up to expectation. The former member of the NDC said the living conditions of Ghanaians are worst with just three years into the Mills-led administration. He took a swipe at the government for concentrating on petty issues instead of taking steps to address the economic and social problems bedeviling Ghanaians. Sekou Nkrumah observed that government seems to have forgotten all the promises it made to Ghanaians prior to the 2008 general elections, suspecting that those promises were mere ploys to get back to power. He stated that the bad policies and programmes initiated by the NDC have brought multifaceted hardships, caused by incompetence and systemic corruption, on the ordinary Ghanaian. Dr. Nkrumah said the chronic strike actions by civil and public servants across the country with the latest being doctors, is a manifestation of the abysmal performance of the Mills-led administration. He wondered why government has not been able to reach a compromise with the doctors on their remuneration. Sekou Nkrumah was convinced that the NDC is on the verge of losing power in 2012.
