The Tema Regional Police Command has assured the public that it would come out shortly with positive results based on its intensified investigations into the mysterious killing of the Tema-based lawyer who was stabbed to death in the early hours of Wednesday October 5, 2011. The deceased, Samuel Blay, died while being attended to at the emergency ward by medical officials at the Tema General Hospital. There are unconfirmed reports that the security agencies are holding some suspects in custody to help the police in the investigations into the murder of the lawyer. Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Olivia Turkson, declined to give further information about the extent of investigations but said exhibits retrieved from the car of the deceased including the broken bottle, were helping to speed up the investigations. Chief Inspector Turkson said it was too early to make public the extent of investigations and appealed to the public to desist from making wild allegations about the death of the lawyer. She said it was a serious incident which could lead to other situations and, therefore, appealed to the public to rely on the police for authentic information. A renowned Tema-based lawyer, Samuel Blay, was stabbed to death by unknown assailants in the early hours of last Wednesday. According to the police, the lawyer drove his VW Passat car, with registration number GT811Z, to the Tema General Hospital to report the incident but died while being attended to. Chief Inspector Turkson said the police had the information at about 3.20 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, after his death. She said the police found a deep cut down the throat and up the chest of the deceased when they got there. Chief Inspector Turkson added that the police had gone far with investigations and would like to be tight lipped to ensure the incident was unravelled as expected. Though information available to the Daily Graphic has hinted that some suspects were being held for questioning, Chief Inspector Turkson denied this and said at the appropriate time the necessary information would be released into the public domain. In another incident, a 22-year-old food joint attendant has been put into police custody for allegedly stabbing her 29-year-old lover. According to Chief Inspector Turkson, the suspect, Faustina Donkor, who works as a an attendant at a restaurant at Tema Community 4, was ordered by the Ashaiman Circuit Court to be put into police custody while the victim is being given medical attention. The court heard that on October 2,2011, Faustina was angered by the decision by her lover, Michael Dawutey, to separate for awhile. Not happy with the development, Faustina is said to have immediately rushed to the kitchen and pulled out a knife which she used to stab Dawutey in the left side of his abdomen. Dawutey's intestines were said to have gushed out as he shouted for help, which attracted people to the scene. The victim is currently at the intensive care unit of the Tema General hospital while the suspect is in police custody.
