Residents of communities around the Birim River in the Eastern Region are frustrated at what they say is government’s lack of action against galamsey operators there.
They say the small scale miners have destroyed the river which used to be their main source of drinking water.
Joy News reporter Anny Osabutey recently joined experts from the Birim River Restoration team to ascertain the extent of destruction done to the river and has come through with the attached report.
