A middle aged woman was found lying dead in a storm drain at Ayigya in Kumasi after flood waters swept through it Wednesday.
The body of the unidentified deceased was spotted lying face down in the drain near Ayigya Zongo.
Curious onlookers had besieged the area where the body of the stoutly built woman who spotted a straight black attire with and rasta hair do lied face-down in deep waters.
But some residents who spoke off record say they saw her early in the morning hovering around the area in a manner that suggested she had a mental challenge.
According to them she was drenched in muddy water and shivering, presumably as a result of the early morning downpour before she was found dead.
It is not clear whether the deceased lived within the vicinity since at the time of filing this report she had not yet been identified.
A pair of slippers believed to be that of the deceased was found a few meters away from the scene, creating doubts about the cause of her death.
But some residents who spoke on condition of anonymity suspect she may have slipped into the huge gutter which has some wooden slabs as a bridge.
Police later visited the scene and conveyed the body to the morgue. A police officer at the Tech-Police station will not give details about the identity or otherwise of the deceased except to say they were investigating.
