A scheduled meeting by members of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Tuesday morning was cancelled following disagreements over the passing of a vote of no confidence in the city’s mayor.
Some Assembly Members had Monday resolved to see the mayor, Alfred Vanderpuye out of office.
However, the Assembly Members went to the offices of the AMA Tuesday for a meeting only to find the administration block where they make their complaints under lock and key.
Some members who spoke to Joy News say although they do not know the reason behind the locking up of the office, they say it could be as a result of yesterday’s vote of no confidence in the Mayor.
Assembly Member for Adabraka electoral area Mohammed Norgah explained that the mayor is wanted out because of his continuous absence from Assembly meetings.
“The government appointed him to be here, if you are doing nonsense we have to talk to you, after all who are you? Whoever the chief executive is we elected him.”
