The presidency has rubbished the latest Political Performance Index (PPI) released by the AfricaWatch magazine saying the government cared less about the scores given President John Evans Mills and his appointees. The AfricaWatch PPI ranked the president C+ on Economic Development, National Security and Foreign Policy. The magazine also scored him B+ on Political Development and Ethical Behaviour with a C mark in Social Interventions. This year’s grades had the president’s performance improving in the areas of Social Interventions, National Security and Political Development.Speaking on Citi FM, the Communications Director at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho, said the president was more concerned about the grading by Ghanaians rather than a mere magazine.“Come 2012 the majority of Ghanaians who gave President Mills the mandate will do their grading so I am not going to give a response to the grading of Africawatch, that is their opinion,” Anyidoho said.“President Mills is working hard and come December 7 Ghanaians would do their grading and there is no doubt that President Mills would fly over the pass mark,” he added.Anyidoho said the grading by the AfricaWatch magazine was not in any way a proper measure of the performance of the president and his appointees.“AfricaWatch did not appoint those appointees, President Mills did, [he] is the one in charge. AfricaWatch can have its own opinion,” Anyidoho added. The magazine rated 18 politicians F and scored only one person, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Dome-Kwabenya, Professor Mike Ocquaye, an A while eight others followed with A-. Nine officials earned a B+.Minister for Agriculture, Kwesi Ahwoi was rated as the best minister in the Mills administration.
