The 2008 presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom says he has no intention to divide the leadership of the party in his second time bid to lead the party in 2012.According to Dr. Nduom, the CPP needs a team to work assiduously to increase the party’s electoral fortunes ahead of the 2012 general elections. He was reacting to perceptions that the Samia Nkrumah chairmanship success has effectively ended his ambition as the presidential candidate of the CPP.It is speculated that the Nduom faction in the party supported the then Chairman, Ladi Nylander who lost miserably in his re-election bid. Prof Agyemang-Badu Akosa, who also has ambitions to lead the CPP, supported the Samia Nkrumah candidature. But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Dr. Paa Kwesi Ndoum dispelled claims that Samia Nkrumah would thwart his efforts to lead the party in 2012 whilst supporting Professor Akosa. He stated emphatically that he and Samia Nkrumah have a cordial relationship and are currently working together to build a formidable party to win the confidence of the electorates.Dr. Nduom debunked allegations from within his party that he was manipulating former chairman, Ladi Nylander to get him endorsed as the party’s flag-bearer for 2012.He explained everything he did was in the interest of the party hence would not do anything detrimental to the image of CPP.However, the aspiring presidential candidate of the CPP underscored the need for the party to work hard to improve upon the presidential and parliamentary elections in 2012.The former Member of Parliament for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirim warned party members to be wary of some in their fold who claim to believe in the ideals of the CPP but leave it after elections and put the party first in everything they do.Dr Nduom called on all well meaning CPP members on the fence to help with their expertise for the party to unseat the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) IN 2012.
