Drive East of the Korle Lagoon on the shores of Accra, Jamestown is one of the oldest districts in the city that emerged as a community around the 17th century. Lying along the coast of the Gulf of Guinea, this community formerly known as British Accra was heavily developed by the end of the 19th century. It’s the pride of Accra in many ways.
Today, Jamestown remains a fishing community inhabited primarily by the indigenous Ga. Despite years of neglect, it's a popular tourist destination for those seeking to see the remnants of Accra's colonial past.
