A Deputy Communication Director for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku says Ghana is grounding to a halt with mal administration in the wake of series of industrial unrest.
According to Sammy Awuku the NDC government is not putting much efforts into resolving the striking Doctors’ issue, but rather empowering 37 Military and Police Hospitals to attend to more patients.
He argued that 37 and Police Hospitals are only located in Accra and questioned how people living in other regions can get access to healthcare.
The strike embarked upon by the doctors has entered its second week with no sign of the doctors returning to post.
He noted that doctors working at 37 and Police Hospitals will soon breakdown, because the work loads at these hospitals are overstretching them.
Sammy Awuku said these when contributing to a panel discussion on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Friday regarding the industrial action embarked upon by the doctors.
Mr. Awuku said the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission has failed in effectively implementing the Single Spine Salary Structure which is the reason for the series of industrial unrest in the country.
The Deputy Communication Director stressed that apart from doctors going on strike, National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) in eight regions have also embarked on strike while Pharmaceutical Society have also threatened to lay down their tools if their demand is not met.
