The four-time flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Dr. Edward Mahama has threatened to sue a leading member of the party, Dr. Somtim Tobiga, for defamation.
Disagreements over Dr. Mahama’s intention to contest the party’s flagbearership slot for the fifth time turned unpleasant when the two leading members of the party made damaging accusations at each other.
Whilst Dr. Mahama accused Dr. Tobiga of spending the party’s money on khebab with his girlfriends, the latter accused him of fathering a child outside wedlock.
Speaking to Citi News, Dr. Mahama stated that he is preparing to take legal action against Dr. Tobiga.
“I won’t talk about this anymore I am seeing my lawyer about the statements that have gone on. This matter is now subjudicate and I will not discuss it."
But Dr. Tobiga says Dr. Mahama should also be ready to substantiate the allegations he made against him.
“As a lawyer I have to be truthful, I have to be sincere and I have to be honest and Dr Mahama cannot impute dishonesty on me. I am also a married man so if he says I had a girlfriend, does he stand by the allegation.
“If he stands by the allegation that I had a girlfriend and I was eating khebab and I did not publish anything and that I spent the thirty million on my girlfriend and myself, I also stand by the allegation that I made about him”.
