MA Love Foundation, a non-governmental organisation aimed at saving the lives of children and also redirecting their future towards self-sufficiency, has been launched at the Legacy Hotel in Accra Saturday. The foundation, the brainchild of Pastor Mike Nii Abossey, presenter of Joy Time in His Presence and A Walk with Jesus on Joy FM, will provide medical equipment support programmes for children hospitals and wards, establish functional libraries, youth seminars among others.MA Love Foundation will also seek to promote very enlightened discussions on child rights, care and upbringing based on love, compassion, values and reverence to God.Speaking at the launch, Pastor Nii Abossey said the foundation was inspired by two life experiences of which one had to do with the difficulties his wife had to go through giving birth at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital some years ago.Citing the increasing rate of street children and child labour, he said, “It is amazing that the streets are no fathers or mothers and yet they have children. Named and recognised in our society as street children or street kids, such children walk around in our communities, densely populated areas, the markets and others areas as though they have no parents or anyone with their interests and future at heart.”He noted that, “the rate of child neglect in our society is rapidly assuming scary proportions; even so called responsible parents don’t know who their children’s friends are ... let alone the less responsible parents who by sheer adventurism had given birth, and not knowing what to do with their innocent children.”
