A 26-year-old man butchered his girlfriend, injured another and committed suicide at Ajumako Kwanyarko in the Central Region.
Kwame Botwe perpetrated the act after his girlfriend, Imma Aisha, announced she was no longer interested in their relationship.
Correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko reported the jilted boyfriend had, a month ago, threatened to kill Aisha but only subjected her to severe beatings for which she was hospitalised.
Botwe carried out his threat this week but not after he subjected an innocent person – a friend of Aisha’s – to some brutal beatings. He had mistaken the lady for Aisha and slashed her with a cutlass but realised she was the wrong person so he dashed to Aisha’s room and slashed her head leaving it hanging by a whisker.
Dr Salifu Bawa of the Breman Asikuma Government Hospital who is attending to the injured lady confirmed Aisha’s head was almost chopped off and that she suffered lacerations on the legs.
He said Aisha was already dead by the time she was rushed to the hospital.
After committing the crime, Botwe absconded and the police searched for him in vain.
He was later found in the bush where he had committed suicide.
The bodies of the two lovers have since been deposited at the Breman Asikuma Hospital.
