The patriotism-focused organisation provided free health screening and distributed free medical drugs to the inmates.

President of PPI Ghana, Eric Nartey Yeboah, urged the inmates to champion patriotism and lead good lives when they are released.

“The fact that you are in prison doesn't mean society has rejected you. The prison is just a reformation place and when they are out you should imbibe the spirit of patriotism,” he said.
Public Affairs Director of PPI Ghana, Ibrahim Yussif Bangsua, said after the short ceremony that society has a role to play in ensuring a reduction in crime.
“The government must critically look at decongesting the prisons by resorting to alternative forms of punishment,” he said.
He also called on civil society organisations to take up interest in the rights of prisoners in Ghana.
PPI Ghana has promised to provide ceiling fans in the Wa Central Prison and also renovate their washrooms all at an estimated cost of Gh¢8, 000.00.
