The Food and Drugs Board says it is closely monitoring the preparation and sale of food in the capital to avert cholera outbreak.
It follows an alert by city authorities of a possible epidemic following the devastating floods Tuesday night.
FDB officials are visiting markets and bus terminals to ensure that traders and food vendors comply with safety standards.
Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Food, John Odame Darkwa told Joy News the assemblies must complement their efforts by enforcing the sanitation bye-laws.
He said the Assemblies must ensure that the traders sell at the right places in the city.
He stated the FDB is interacting more with the traders to ensure that the surroundings around which the foods are being sold are tidy.
