The Managing Editor of the Al-hajj Newspaper, Alhaji Idrissu Bature says the utterances of the opposition NPP General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie is making him a notorious leader. According to him, the NPP’s General Secretary is fond of heaping verbal attacks on President Mills anytime he talks on national issues. The NPP scribe said President Mills' comment on the recent UK gay aid cut threat was just a face saving tactics. Sir John as he is affectionately called said there is no need to commend Ghana's President, John Mills, for telling the UK Prime Minister, David Cameron in the face that Ghana will not legalize homosexuality. President Mills on Wednesday issued a strong signal to the UK that Ghana will not legalize homosexuality. Speaking on Asempa Fm’s Ekosii-Sen Thursday, Alhaji Bature noted that the reaction of Sir John towards the president is very disrespectful describing him as becoming notorious leader. “You can disagree with the President but not to the extent of treating his statement with contempt and Sir John is fond of doing that” he said. He stressed that over 99.9 per cent of Ghanaians agree with the President stance on the gay issue with the exception of Sir John. “Since Sir John became NPP’s scribe, everything he has been saying about the President is unpleasant. I know the NPPs are watching and will talk to him or face the wrath of the NDC” he opined. Alhaji Iddrisu Bature said that for the first time Ghanaians are united behind President Mills, opining that “if it is only about sheepish talk, there are men in Ghana so Sir John should be careful." “I know people disagree with Nana Addo, President Kufour but have never insulted them like how Sir John has been doing to the President” he added. The sympathizer of the ruling NDC asserted that the position of Sir John is huge so if he does not watch his utterances, it may create problems. He said it is surprising that everybody in Ghana have been heard on the gay issue with the exception of the NPP Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo and Convention People’s Party Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom. He said Nana and Nduom are being heard on every national issue but the gay issue is conspicuously missing. “We all want to hear Nana Addo’s position on the gay issue because it is equally important as the doctors’ strike” he opined.
