The Greater Accra regional branch of the opposition New Patriotic Party has issued a statement debunking rumours that Frances Assiam has been disqualified as the party’s Parliamentary candidate for the Adenta constituency. The statement said though issues against Frances Assiam are yet to be resolved, her candidature is intact. Those opposing her, including some constituency executives say she has not stayed there for four years, as stipulated by the NPP constitution. But the Greater Accra Communications Director of the party, Michael Ampong told Joy News a meeting held last Friday to resolve the impasse was fruitful. ”The problem in Adenta has nothing to do with her candidature. It has to do with differences; differences between the candidate and other leading members of the party which we as a party have committed ourselves [to solve],” he explained. He said committees have been put in place to ensure that the problems are ironed out.
