The Head of Communications at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho is challenging NPP’s flagbearer to produce an audio evidence of his meeting with UK Prime Minister, David Cameron. Nana Akufo-Addo is reported to have broken his long silence on the controversial issue on homosexuals, at a private meeting with the UK Prime Minister, chiding him for threatening to ‘starve’ countries which trample on the rights of gays and lesbians of aid. The General Secretary of the NPP, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie told Citi News the meeting was at the instance of Cameron and lasted between 20-30 minutes. According to him, Nana Addo “took the opportunity to firstly talk about the gay matters that have been pervading the country [Ghana], " adding, “Nana Addo expressed the sentiments of the people of Ghana by stating that our cultural and religious framework should not be disrupted by foreign powers especially coming from Mr. Cameron. ” But speaking to Joy News’ Presidential Correspondent Seth Kwame Boateng, the Head of Communications at the presidency doubted such a comment was made and dared the NPP to produce an audio recording. He wondered why Nana Addo would travel all the way to UK only to engage in a private discussion with Cameron on a controversial issue which all stakeholders, civil societies, religious groups have taken turns to publicly condemn in Ghana. “President Mills took a strong position; the Christian council did the same thing; the Moslem Council; many many Ghanaians who have no political clouts have spoken. “Somehow a person who is angling and actually believing that he is a president in waiting, he doesn’t speak about it at home he goes out there. Now we are being told by Sir John that when he met David Cameron he chided.” Asked if he doubted the report by the General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho stated: “I do. I doubt. If it is the case that he has a strong position and is capable of chiding…. and he will not say a word publicly about it?” He said it is kids who are usually chided and if Nana Addo “with his thinking agenda” “had the strength” to chide David then it is news. He said the NPP must produce the ‘chiding’ audio for Ghanaians to listen to it themselves, adding, “Sir John cannot throw dust into our eyes.” Play the attached audio for excerpts of the interview with Koku
