A member of the governing National Democratic Congress Communications (NDC) team, Dela Cofie, has taken a swipe at the Catholic Bishop Conference (GCBC) saying they must not be taken seriously for their views on the biometric voters registration exercise.
According to him, the Catholic Bishops' wading into the controversial biometric with verification was needless and hypocritical.
The Former Communication Director of FONKAR said their statements are full of inconsistencies because, to him, they do not understand the difficulties facing the Electoral Commission (EC).
The Catholic Bishop Conference has supported calls for a verification mechanism in the biometric registration for the 2012 General Election.
A communiqué issued by the conference at the end of its five-day Annual Plenary Assembly in Takoradi, and read by the President of the GCBC, Most Reverend Joseph Osei-Bonsu said, if there will a biometric voters register then electronic verification should be included.
However speaking on Asempa Fm’s Ekosii-Sen on Monday, Dela Cofie noted that the activities of some Civil Society Organizations and Religious bodies must be looked into because their activities are doing a great disservice to the nation.
“They said in their statement that they are yet to meet the EC on their challenges on the biometric voter exercise, then why the rush in making this public pronouncement. What are they up to”?
