Calm has returned to some constituencies of the ruling National Democratic Congress after initial skirmishes as the party hold parliamentary primaries in five regions.
The party is holding primaries to elect parliamentary candidates from constituencies without sitting Members of Parliament in the three northern regions, Brong Ahafo region and the Ashanti region.
In the China Paga constituencies in Upper East, there was a standoff between supporters of the two contestants, the District Chief Executive Thomas Dalu and the National Coordinator for the NYEP program Abuga Pele.
An eye witness Joseph Ayamga told Joy News it took the intervention of heavy security presence to restore calm to the area.
There were also confusion in the Effiduase and Ahafo Ano South constituencies in the Ashanti region over delegates list.
Party’s General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia who is touring all five regions concedes they have been challenging but says much is being done to rectify the situation.
One constituency that political analysts are following closely is Jaman South where Major Rtd Boakye Gyan is competing against two other candidates.
