Government functionaries and other NDC MP hopefuls seeking to unseat sitting Members of Parliament in upcoming primaries of the party are girding their loins to do the political battle.Party officials are expected to blow the whistle for the start of open campaigning on Thursday. National executives are expected to spell the dos and dont's for the conduct of campaigns for the parliamentary primaries at a news conference.There have been reports of quiet but active campaigns in these constituencies even though the party proscribed campaigning in these constituencies.The party is now focusing attention on these seats a few days after conducting primaries in its orphaned constituencies.Deputy Information Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah is reported to be frequenting the North Tongu Constituency, working to kick out incumbent Charles Sename Hodugbey.Fifi Kwatey, Deputy Finance Minister is interested in the Ketu South seat currently held by Albert Zigah. First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Doe Ajaho’s Ave seat is also under threat.Keta MP reportedly faces threats from bigwigs like Chris Akumey and Richard Quashigah.The list continues with other NDC gurus and DCE’s joggling for seats in Accra and various parts of the country.Pollster and election watcher, Ben Ephson, asked the party to call all aspirants to order: “You can campaign, but you must not use insulting language; there should be no curses because when that happens and there is apathy – it cost the NPP in 2008 – and if the NDC is not careful it will cost them in 2012.”Play the attached audio to listen to Ben Epshon
