Failed parliamentary candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya seat, Mrs Zita Okaikoi has threatened to go to court to have the woman she lost the ticket to disqualified.
The former Information Minister argues the largely unknown Sophia Karen Akuaku was not qualified to contest the elections.
The two engaged each other in heated exchanges and name-calling on Okay FM Monday morning.
Zita called Sophia Akuaku a liar who bought her way to the parliamentary candidacy of the governing National Democratic Congress.
She was largely tipped to win the ticket but she lost by 17 votes to the little known Sophia Akuaku who polled 100.
The contest, apparently, is not over yet, at least for Zita.
“I will not even argue with her, I’ll not even argue with her, I’ll not argue with her, when I take the action to disqualify her, she will understand where I’m coming from. If you come on-air and lie, I will not even argue with her,” she stated.
Replying, Mrs Akuaku challenged Zita to mention one development she brought about in the constituency to merit the ticket.
She said the elections were free and fair and that Zita was simply guilty of sour grapes.
Early on, Sophia Karen Akuaku dismissed claims her election dims the party’s chances of annexing the seat from the NPP.
Some executives in the constituency including the party’s Propaganda Secretary, Joseph Abrokwah have expressed worry over the candidate's unpopularity.
Madam Akuaku however says she is counting on teamwork to win the seat for the party in 2012.
In another development, outspoken NDC member, Ras Mubarak who won the Ablekuma North constituency NDC primary is confident he will annex the seat from the NPP in 2012.
