The National Youth Organiser of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) Murtala Mohammed says party Chair, Samia Yaba Nkrumah is only blowing hot air with her threat to expel Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom from the party.
According to him, the only body mandated by the CPP constitution to take such an action is a minimum two-thirds majority of the party's Central Committee.
Samia Nkrumah in an interview with Joy FM Monday, lashed out at the flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Nduom for allegedly turning party members against leadership in his quest to lead the party in the 2012 general elections.
She said Dr. Nduom risk losing his membership in the party if he continued with the orchestration to derail CPP’s chances in the 2012 general elections.
But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Murtala Mohammed said it is very shameful and unfortunate that the Chairperson of a respectable party like the CPP could make such comments.
“How can you (Samia) leave the constitution of the party and be saying things because you feel or think it should be like that?” he queried.
He said Samia’s action is a clear indication that she is really immature in Ghanaian politics - at a time the CPP is trying to marshal forces to emerge as a third force and as the only alternative party for Ghanaians.
“This is not good for our party and somebody must tell Samia that only neophyte politicians would say this,” he bemoaned.
The National Youth Organiser was worried Samia Nkrumah’s action would aggravate the grassroots agitation in the party for early election of flagbearer, a position canvassed by Dr. Nduom.
Murtala Mohammed who revealed being part of persons in the party calling for a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting for this weekend, said “even if there is enough evidence that Dr. Nduom is behind the NEC, you (Samia) don’t have any business to sack him”.
“Why, we can’t do things constitutionally again in this party because somebody is chairman?" he quizzed.
"For God sake the Central Committee is the highest decision making body of our party (and) no individual, not a goddess from Europe or Egypt can decide for our party”.
Murtala Mohammed hinted of a massive demonstration Tuesday at the party headquarters to ensure Samia does not jeopardize the fortunes of the CPP in 2012.
