The Central Committee of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) says it will open nominations for its presidential primary for the 2012 elections on January 4-27 2012.
The party will open nominations for its parliamentary primaries from Wednesday, November 30.
Many supporters and some executives of the party have called for early congress ahead of the 2012 elections, a call that some national executives did not agree with.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday after a Central Committee meeting, National Organizer of the party, Abu Forgor said the date for the presidential primary has not been set yet. Nominations will however open in January.
He hinted that the fee for the Parliamentary forms is GHc100 and the filing fee is GHC1,500 for male aspirants and GHC750 for female aspirants.
“We have now opened nominations for our parliamentary primaries and that of the presidential primary will be in January next year. After critical deliberations by the central committee of the party, the party has decided to hold the presidential primary in March 2012 but the date is not yet fixed,” he noted.
