A statement by the party signed by Director of Communication, James Asante, observed that the primaries were generally conducted in an atmosphere of peace and unity thereby conforming to the highly expected free, fair and transparent results which the party has always believed in.
“It affirms our commitment to the essentials of modern democratic principles and practices.”
The statement said the NEC viewed the primaries as a family contest and lauded the maturity and democratic tolerance displayed by the contestants. “The strong and unalloyed commitment, dedication, love and unity demonstrated, we believe will serve as the catalyst needed for the party’s organizational success and victory in the impending 2012 elections.
“While congratulating the winners in the contest, the NDC entreats all contestants and their followers, as well as, the entire umbrella family to rally behind the elected aspirants to enable the party annex the parliamentary seats in these constituencies.
“We wish to remind our followers that victory for our elected candidates symbolizes victory for the Party in our quest to win more seats to enable the NDC dominate the country’s legislature and form the next government.”
