The Peoples National Convention is looking forward to a favourable ruling by an Accra High Court on a motion seeking to place an injunction on the party’s national delegates’ congress originally scheduled to take place in Sunyani this Saturday.
Five disgruntled members of the PNC pursuing the court action claim the leaders of the party are acting in breach of the party’s constitution which requires them to conduct elections in all 230 constituencies before congress.
But General Secretary of the party, Bernard Mornah, said their action is a deliberate attempt to disorganize the party’s programmes.
He told Joy News the Volta Region held a successful conference yesterday to elect new executives and three remaining regions; Western, Central and Greater Accra regions are expected to finish theirs by Friday.
Four-time Presidential candidate of the PNC, Dr Edward Mahama who witnessed the Volta regional conference of the party urged to delegates to consider his experience and give him another opportunity.
He said the governing National Democratic Congress and the opposition New Patriotic Party both had formidable presidential candidates and that it would be a grave mistake for the PNC to elect a political novice to face them in the 2012 elections.
