A member of the communication team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Felix Kwaye Ofosu has questioned the motive behind Nana Akufo-Addo's exclusion of his academic credential at Oxford University from his curriculum vitae.
According to him, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag-bearer’s refusal to make public his academic performance in Oxford University gives credence to rumours that he (Nana) was sacked from the institution for smoking marijuana.
Members of the NDC have challenged the NPP to prove that their flag-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo was a student of the Oxford University in the United Kingdom.
The Daily Post, a pro-NDC newspaper which led the campaign asked the NPP to set the record straight on the issue since it bordered on the credibility of Nana Akufo-Addo.
But the NPP rubbished the claim, stating that it was just part of the vile propaganda of the ruling party to malign the person of their flag-bearer.
However, Felix Kwakye Owusu who was a panelist on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, said it is very legitimate for every well-meaning citizen to question the veracity of the academic credentials of a possible president.
He said that for wannabe-president like Nana Akufo-Addo, it is very imperative for him to clear all doubts on the minds of Ghanaians on his academic qualifications and performance at Oxford University.
“You (Nana) must respond to it so that we know either you went to Oxford or not and either you were dismissed or not dismissed”.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu could not fathom why the NPP flag-bearer would hide the fact that he attended a high profile university like Oxford and also exclude it from his CV.
The NDC Youth activist charged the leadership of the NPP to redeem the image of Nana Akufo-Addo by offering a plausible explanation on the issue to Ghanaians.
In a quick rebuttal however, James Kwabena Bomfe who was a co-panelist on the programme, said Felix Kwakye Ofosu “has goofed big time”.
He revealed that Nana Akufo-Addo was never a student at Oxford University as it is being alleged.
“For a fact Nana Addo never went to Oxford; he never got admission or applied to go to Oxford. It is his father who went to Oxford”.
Kabila as Bomfe is popularly called, said that the NPP flag-bearer has refused to comment on the issue because he (Nana) is treating it with the contempt it deserves.
The aspiring Member of Parliament for Kintampo North noted that Nana Akufo-Addo is concentrating on his campaign hence would not honour NDC’s mischieve ahead of the 2012 general elections.
