A youth activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Felix Ofosu-Kwakye has taken a swipe at the Member of Parliament for Assin-North, Ken Agyapong saying it is embarrassing that he is an MP in Ghana.
According to him, someone who is 'foul-mouthed' like Kennedy is not worth debating on any serious national issue like cocaine which has been the nation’s canker for sometime now.
The statement came after the MP of Assin-North commented on the cocaine exhibit tendered in evidence to the court that got swapped with washing soda leading to the discharge of the accused person Nana Ama Martin, who had been standing trial since 2008 for possessing narcotics.
The outspoken NPP firebrand, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong branded the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a party which was funded with cocaine money.
He alleged that during the formation of the NDC party in 1992, cocaine barons funded the party and that makes NDC a cocaine party.
Speaking on Asempa Fm’s Ekosii-Sen on Thursday, Felix Ofosu-Kwakye described the statement of Kennedy Agyapong as outrageous, opining that no serious democratic society will elect him as an MP.
“It really saddens my heart that Kennedy Agyapong is an MP in a serious country like Ghana. It is serious that a fouled-mouth person like him is representing a group of people in Ghana’s parliament. In no serious society can Kennedy Agyapong become an MP,” he asserted.
He stressed that Kennedy Agyapong is someone who should hold high the dignity of parliament but it is unfortunate that his conduct is putting the house into a public ridicule and shame. “I sometimes do not understand why he is even engaged in public discourse because he is not disciplined”.
He described the argument of the MP on the recent cocaine saga as completely ignorant of the whole situation. "Look, the NPP whose MP for Nkoranza North was arrested in the UK with narcotics is not describing itself as cocaine party how much more NDC whose member has never been arrested for cocaine. I think he is just not serious”.
Felix Ofosu-Kwakye who is also the Convener of the Research and Advocacy Platform (RAP) stated that it is not surprising he is in parliament on behalf of the NPP because that is what they glorify.
He said the MP drawing the name of the NDC into the cocaine saga is completely unnecessary and should be rejected by every Ghanaian because the party is not known for dealing in drugs.
The member of the NDC’s Communications Team called on the people of Assin-North to reject Kennedy Agyapong in the 2012 general elections because he is an embarrassment to the people of the area. “It is time the people of Assin-North vote against him to represent them in parliament once again because his conduct publicly does not deserve someone who can be a responsible leader”.
