The President, John Evans Atta Mills, has written to Parliament that he has postponed his return to the country from December 15 to Saturday December 17 due to an of ficial assignment.
This comes on the heels of the out cry by a section of the public whether President Mills pre-empted the House of his intentions to take his official leave which is constitutionally mandated.
Meanwhile, the minority spokesperson on Finance, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei, Thursday, observed that most committee reports on budgetary estimates presented for approval in parliament are fraught with incon-sistency.
He said the House should take the issue of discrepancies in the budgetary estimates serious to protect their credibility because their credibility as Parliamentarians would be questioned.
Dr. Akoto Osei who is also the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo called on all committee chairs to take critical look at them before they are presented to the House for approval.
The situation of discrepancies often results in deferment of reports and in some cases suspension of sitting for the necessary corrections to be made.
The Majority leader, Cletus Avoka, responding to the matter, blamed the clerks to the committee for these discrepancies adding that they are supposed to rectify the reports before they get to the House for approval.
Other concerns which were raised in Parliament by the MP for Sekondi, Papa Owusu-Ankomah on Thursday were about the absence of Members of Parliament during the approval of budgetary estimates.
He noted that approving of budgetary estimates is very important and should not be abandoned for any other business which will keep members away from the House.
