The New Patriotic Party says it will deal severely with any member or members who fail to follow party procedures for addressing grievances but rather resort to media bashing. The warning follows claims by the party that it has intercepted a ploy by the ruling National Democratic Congress to influence key members of the party to destabilize it ahead of the 2012 elections.A statement issued by the Greater Accra Regional Executive Committee of the NPP on Tuesday warned members of the party to be on the lookout for persons bearing money and lucrative contracts.“The Party has intercepted an intelligence which has uncovered a diabolical plan of the ruling NDC government to destabilize our party in some selected constituencies within the Greater Accra Region.“Our sources close to the NDC indicate that the government has set aside money and contracts to induce and influence some known party activists to stir up controversies and problem in those selected constituencies.”According to the statement signed by Michael Kwabena Ampong, Regional Director of Communications of the NPP, the scheme is already in operation and is being controlled by an unnamed person from the seat of government, who is also gunning to go to parliament.“This ploy has also identified certain media outlets as platforms to be used by the so called aggrieved party members to create a negative image for our parliamentary candidates and the party at large.”"The party will deal severely with any person or group of people who will not follow procedures laid down to address grievances by the party but rather resort to media bashing, the statement warned. “Such culprits would receive instant suspension from the party.”
