Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, says he expected President Atta Mills to apologise for the violence that characterized various bye-elections in some parts of the country. He said the president failed to deal with violent acts against supporters of the NPP by supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).Nana Addo, speaking to journalists on Thursday, said he looked forward to hearing the President openly apologising for the electoral violence in Agbobloshie, Atiwa, Chereponi and Akwatia to give meaning to his "rhetoric" of ensuring a peaceful election in 2012.But to his disappointment, Nana Akufo-Addo said: “I have never heard the President of the Republic express any remorse or regret about the incidence that occurred at Agbobloshi, the incident that occurred in Chereponi and occurred in Akwatia and occurred in Atiwa.”“Even the simple statement oh I regret these things, we would make sure they don’t occur again,” the president has failed on that, he said.
