Information Minister John Tia Akologu, Thursday filed his nomination to contest the parliamentary primaries of the governing National Democratic Congress for the Talensi Constituency.Mr Tia, who is the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Constituency, is seeking a sixth term in the House.He must beat competition from four other contenders if he is to have another chance to contest the parliamentary elections on the NDC’s ticket.Speaking after the filing ceremony, the Chairman of Mr John Tia’s campaign team, Alhaji Musah Seidu, said the overwhelming support enjoyed by the MP was testament to his diligent hard work and unquestionable efforts at developing the area.“On behalf of the Campaign Team and Hon John Tia Akologu, I wish to convey our gratitude to you for the tremendous support you exhibited in support of the Candidature of Hon John Tia Akologu for the impending Constituency Primaries of the NDC.”Eulogizing the Information Minister, Alhaji Seidu, said, Mr John Tia was a true son of the land who was determined to serve the people even at the peril of his life.“In the early days of the 4th Republican Constitution, the political terrain was not as fluid and cheery as we have today. In those days, deciding to serve in any political office was a great sacrifice that sometimes put family members and relations at a great risk. It was with so much difficulty therefore to persuade Hon. John Tia’s family and friends to support his parliamentary bid. His usual refrain had been that submitting himself to the seat was merely an act of sacrifice especially when he was comfortably serving as a Senior Journalist with the Ghana News Agency,” he stated.Cataloguing the achievements of the MP, the campaign chairman said, “Over the years, he has orchestrated phenomenal developmental projects that had hitherto eluded the Talensi people.
