Deputy minority leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Lawra-Nandom constituency, Ambrose Dery, has rescued a 27-year-old man who was detained at the St. Theresah's hospital at Nandom for defaulting in payments of five months of his medical bills.
Yaw Dery was brought to the hospital with a swollen right thigh last August.
After a successful amputation of the thigh, he was discharged but he couldn't foot the hospital bills and was therefore detained by the hospital authorities.
Joy News’ Upper West regional correspondent, Rafiq Salam reports that, Yaw Dery was detained for two months after the surgery. His relations are said to have abandoned him at the hospital, forcing the hospital to expend their resources on feeding him.
But Mr Ambrose Dery who coincidentally paid a courtesy call on administrators of the hospital, chanced upon the predicament of Yaw Dery and promised to pay his medical bills.
Mr Ambrose Dery also applauded the officials of the hospital for their contribution to health care in the constituency.
