Executives of the Convetions People's Party (CPP) in the Northern Region say they are unperturbed by the recent defections by some of its members to the new political movement founded by the party’s former flagbearer, Paa Kwesi Nduom.
About 200 CPP supporters as well as some constituency executives are reported to have joined Dr. Nduoms Progressive People’s Party (PPP). The defectors made the announcement ahead of a meeting to introduce a 20 member national executive committee for the movement on Sunday.
But Iddrisah Mumuni, the CPP’s Northern Regional Secretary has told Joy News some of the defectors are not in good standing.
He said some of them came from the NPP and the NDC and were not true members of the party.
He revealed that the party intends to carry out some investigation into background of its members to ensure that there are no traitors within their ranks.
