The Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation Office at the presidency, Dr. Tony Aidoo says he will forever hate the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) because it is a party full of murderers and hypocrites.According to him, members of the party have always prided itself as the apostles of rule of law and democracy but have always acted contrary to their claims. The statement came after the NPP stated categorically that no member of the party will co-operate with the Economic and Organised Crime Office's (EOCO) investigations into the Woyome saga.National chairman of the NPP, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey claimed the party did “not want this whole matter which involves such a significant amount of the people’s money to be hidden behind so called investigations so the people can’t see it”.President John Evans Atta Mills directed the EOCO to investigate circumstances that led to the payment of over GHS58 million judgment debt to a stalwart of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alfred Agbesi Woyome, as well as how the nation came to incur similar judgment debts.Leading members of the NPP who were invited by the investigative body have vowed not to appear before EOCO but the NDC believes they must be forced to co-operate.Speaking on Asempa Fm’s Ekosii Sen on Friday, Dr. Tony Aidoo urged Ghanaians to support the arrest of any ex-government official who defy orders of the EOCO if the citizens want to continually experience the nation's democratic dispensation.“Anybody who does not co-orperate with the EOCO must face the wrath of the law. Every institution has laws and EOCO also has power of arrest so anyone who dare misbehave will face it”.“I have never liked the UP tradition (NPP) since I was 6 years when I saw them kill innocent woman in front of my house at 2 pm in the afternoon. Murderers and I mean murderers like the NPP because I knew them one by one so I will forever hate them” he asserted. He claimed all his family members at the time belonged to the UP tradition but “I was not because I hated them for the crime they committed”.
He added that as a student of politics, he knows one has to abide by the laws of the land even if it is bad.“It is the NPP government that set up the EOCO so if they are not comfortable with their work then they should obey now and make effort to change it when they regain power. We were in the country eight (8) years where people were arrested left, right and centre but [they] are now creating the impression that the same body is not credible”.“NPP practiced fascism in their eight years in power with a fascist organization,” Dr. Aidoo alleged. He noted that the NPP, whenever they are in opposition, serve as a threat to democracy. "The biggest threat to Ghana’s democracy is the bigotry of the NPP to think over the years that whenever they are in opposition nothing happens in the country”.“They tormented people’s rights and freedom but always claim they are apostles of democracy. Who do they think they are?” he quizzed. He described as frivolous lies the minority’s assertion that the EOCO is an inferior body to the attorney general’s office and that it cannot investigate the Woyome saga which involves the A-G.“The minority is claiming Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will be sitting on the matter so the EOCO cannot investigate it, shows they are not serious. What PAC is sitting on is the auditor general’s report but the EOCO is going beyond the Woyome saga”.“There is a frivolous impression by the NPP that the EOCO report will be submitted to the A-G but it is not true because it is the president that ordered the investigations into the Woyome saga. So I am telling them to submit to the EOCO in peace because they used it to molest the NDC for their eight years in power”.He admonished the NPP to coorporate with the investigations or face the wrath of the law.
