President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi has expressed his disappointment in the performance of the Black Stars in the friendly match with Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
The match which ended in a pulsating 1-1 draw is part of the preparation for the Black Stars for the 28th edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon from January 21 to February 12, 2012.
Speaking on Asempa Fm’s Sports Morning Show on Monday, Mr. Nyantakyi admitted that the team was on course in terms of the preparations for the Cup of Nations but he was not pleased with the output of the players.
He explained “the preparation has been good, Asamoah Gyan has started sprinting which is good but I must say I was not exceptionally impressed with the output of the players in the game with the South Africans, it could have been better”.
The President of the Association however stated emphatically that Ghana was still in contention for the trophy which has eluded the nation for three decades.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi has welcomed the appointment of Mr. Ibrahim Sannie Daara as the director of communications of the country's governing body.
According to him Sannie Daara has the requisite experience to man the communication department of the Ghana Football Association.
Daara holds a masters degree in International Journalism from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom and speaks Twi, Ga and Hausa.
He is one of Ghana's famous football journalists having worked for the BBC for eight years and has a huge experience on the local media scene.
He has won several awards in the journalism profession including the FPA
Award in the UK which is the crowning achievement of any journalist's career.
