The Gborbu Willomo Shietse and overlord of the Ga-Dangbe state, Numo Larweh Tsuru II on Sunday performed rituals to cleanse the Ga land of what he described as evil machinations that have currently possessed the land, leading to deaths, misunderstanding and confusion on Ga Lands. According to him, this ritual is conducted once every 21 years, when events such as deaths, chieftaincy disputes and land litigations among others, have overwhelmed them. This ritual is conducted by the Gborbu Wulomo with the total support of all the spiritualists in the Ga Land, including fetish priests and priestesses from the various Ga tribes in the Greater Accra region. On Saturday, an announcement was made in the town for all the various households to sweep their houses and collect the refuse and bring it to a common point in the town. All the refuse collected were put into a sack, made from palm leaves, known in the local parlance as 'Bede', and thrown away to a prescribed location within the town. A cow was dragged through the town to the sea shore, where it was slaughtered and its meat thrown into the sea; towards the four corners that is north, south, east and west. It is believed that whosoever picks any of the pieces of the cow and send it home to cook and eat will invite the wrath of the spirits. Later in an interview with the Tema File, Gborbu Wulomo appealed to all and sundry in the Ga State to co-exist and allow brotherliness to dwell among them. He hinted that now that this ritual had been performed things were going to improve in the Ga Land only if the people are ready to embrace the new change.
