A leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Kobina Arthur Kennedy has asked President Mills to give the Attorney General and Minister Justice, Martin Amidu, all the support to enable him pursue the case against Alfred Woyome over payment the of judgement debts.Dr. Authur Kennedy said this is the time President Mills should rally behind the Attorney General in the mist of calls from sections of pro-government newspapers demanding his resignation.Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Tuesday, Dr. Kennedy said the Attorney General wants to prove his integrity as an astute lawyer with the “Woyomegate” so President Mills should rally behind him to pursue this case to its logical conclusion. He added that President Mills as a law professor should show to Ghanaians that things are done right in his administration.Dr. Arthur Kennedy who contested the 2007 NPP Presidential primaries and lost, asked President Mills to issue a release indicating his support for the Attorney General, adding, this will clear doubts that President Mills is in support of pro government newspapers who are demanding Martin Amidu’s resignation. The A-G on Monday 16th January 2012 filed a motion in court challenging the payment of a judgement debt to Mr. Alfred Woyome. In a new twist to the controversial payment, the A-G held that the NDC financier has no legitimate contract to seek for reparation.Woyome has been paid $58 million in 2010-2011 for alleged breach of contract by the erstwhile New Patriotic Party government during preparation towards the CAN 2008 Nations Cup.Dr. Arthur Kennedy therefore commended the Attorney General for making this bold step.."He should vigorously pursue the evidence of the case to the latter, because he is doing a good work [and we] will support him," Dr. Kennedy stressed. However, the Editor for the Daily Post newspapers, Michael Dokosi argued that Martin Amidu’s action is tantamount to blackmailing the government. He said instead of the Attorney General concentrating on vital issues of the case, he has decided to rather focus on the less important things.Michael Dokosi insisted that Martin Amidu should vacate his post because he is not the right person for the job.
