David Arkutu returned a gross score of 142 to win the 19th Annual GOIL Seniors Open Golf Championship played at the Bok Nam Kim Golf Course at the Airforce Officers Mess in Accra at the weekend.
He was followed at the second position by K.A. Butah with 153 gross, Kofi Addo took the third position with 154 gross, beating Gyima Kwakye on count-back while Anthony Ashiagbor was fifth with 155 gross.
In the Ladies encounter, Suzie Abaloo-Kumassah came first with 170 gross with Francisca Vandyck taking the second position with 174 gross while Ama Morgan placed third with 176 gross.
The two-day Scratch competition, which attracted about 100 golfers was opened to senior golfers aged 55 years and above and sponsored by GOIL Ghana Limited.
Professor George Ntsiful, President of the Ghana Golf Association said the association would soon introduce the 'Masters Open' for winners of competitions to participate for glory.
He praised GOIL for supporting the association over the years and expressed the hope that they would continue to help the Association to promote and develop the sport in the country.
Mr Yaw Agyeman-Duah, Managing Director of GOIL Ghana Limited gave the assurance that the company would continue to support the Association in the ensuing years.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air-Vice Marshall Joseph O. Boateng, also commended GOIL for their sponsorship and called on the Ghana Golf Association to provide the Bok Nak Kim Golf Club with people with the expertise of the rudiments of the sport to assist the Club with their training.
