Ghana's Vice-President, John Dramani Mahama is tasking the national team to honour the nation by winning the African title.
The Vice-President on Sunday visited the team in camp in Ngouoni ahead of the start of their Group D campaign on Tuesday against Botswana.
H.E. Mahama warned the players against any form of complacency and rather improve on their runners-up placing in the last competition.
“Every country came to this tournament on merit so you should avoid complacency and listen to your technical team," the Vice-President told the team.
“You have our support and we will do our best for you to bring us the trophy.”
Ghana are four-time champions in the competition and the Vice President believes that the players are motivated enough to make it title number 5.
"Well in Ghana, we don't think that motivation is just monetary or cash. We think that motivation goes beyond just money. We have bonuses that our players know about, if they win every team. It's not in the order of a million dollars but I think it's handsome enough," the Vice-President said.
