John Mensah wants an opening day victory in Group D to calm nerves ahead of a busy campaign at the African Cup of Nations. The Ghana captain admits that the expectation is high as the Black Stars chase a fifth African title. But he believes that winning against debutants, Botswana on Tuesday will inject new confidence into the squad ahead of other tough group battles against Mali and Guinea."The first game is always important in every competition. When you win your first game, it settles you down and gives you some added confidence. We have been working hard but we need to get the first game out of the way before looking ahead," Mensah said.Mensah says he is excited about the potential of the Ghana team to win the title."The expectation is high and we know it wont be easy. But we [are] hopeful and believe we can win it," the Ghana captain said as he called for prayer and support."We came third in 2008, lost the final in 2010 and we are going again. It doesn't make it easy but I believe we can get there [finals and win the title]."
