The Gabon Football Association has decided to name one of the stands at Stade de Franceville in Gabon after Black Stars Skipper, John Mensah, Asempa Sports can reveal. John Mensah’s output in Ghana’s first match at the AFCON 2012 has received a lot of plaudits and seems not to be ending after this latest decision by the Gabon FA. The Skipper of the Black Stars latest award comes after he became the first player to score a goal at Stade de Franceville after its renovation. John Mensah had a bitter-sweet game in Ghana’s opener with Botswana in Group D after scoring the only goal of the match in the 28th minute before seeing red in the 67th minute after preventing Jerome Ramatlhakwane from leveling the scores. Meanwhile, John Mensah has been cleared by CAF to feature in Ghana’s last Group D match with Guinea on Wednesday, February 1. Ghana shares the top spot of Group D with Mali after both countries won their opening games by a 1-0 score line.
